At The Sheffield Private School (TSPS), our curriculum is rooted in the English National Curriculum and is structured into five Key Stages.
Students aged 3 to 5 begin their educational journey in FS1 or FS2, completing two years in our Foundation Stage. These classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum from the UK, providing a strong foundation for future learning.
Primary education caters to students aged 5 to 11, starting in Year 1. They progress through two years in Key Stage 1, followed by four years in Key Stage 2, before transitioning to our Secondary School after the age of 11. The Primary Stages (Years 1–6) deliver a broad and balanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England, complemented by Ministry of Education subjects, including Arabic, Islamic Studies (for Muslim students), Social Studies, and Moral Education.
The Secondary phase begins at age 11, encompassing Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9). Here, students follow a comprehensive and balanced curriculum designed to develop higher-order thinking skills. At the end of Year 9, students select specific subjects of interest alongside mandatory core subjects. They then prepare for internationally recognised qualifications, including IGCSEs and BTECs, during Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11).
The Sixth Form represents the pinnacle of a student’s education at TSPS, during which they choose to study AS and A Levels or BTEC qualifications. Key Stage 5 provides a solid foundation for higher education, whether at university, college, or in preparation for entry into a professional career.
While the National Curriculum for England forms the core of our academic programme, we maintain a fully inclusive admissions policy, offering both national and expatriate students access to a culturally relevant and inclusive curriculum. With over 60 nationalities represented in our school community, TSPS reflects the diversity, tolerance, and vibrancy of the UAE. In addition to the academic curriculum, TSPS offers an enriching extracurricular programme, known as the Ultra-Curriculum. This initiative ensures that every child has opportunities to succeed, nurturing their talents and passions beyond the classroom.
