At TSPS, safeguarding our students is at the core of everything we do. Our commitment to child protection ensures that:

• Children grow up in a safe and nurturing environment with effective care.

• We take proactive measures to prevent harm to children’s health and development.

• We protect children from abuse, neglect, and maltreatment.

• We take decisive action to ensure that all children achieve the best possible outcomes.

Child Protection in the UAE

Child protection is a priority for the UAE and a Child’s Right Law was implemented in June 2016. Child protection in the UAE includes physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, repeated maltreatment, grooming and sexual exploitation, human trafficking and exploitation by groups that teach fanaticism or hatred. UAE law requires all school staff to pass on any information that gives rise to a concern about a child’s welfare, including risk from neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse. As a result, the TSPS Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is required to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the law and act in the best interests of all students.

Safer Recruitment

All our staff are carefully employed with our children’s safety at heart. All staff submit an appropriate police check, and if recruited from overseas an ICPC certificate is maintained. Two references are also requested, one of which is from the previous employer. At TSPS, we also provide mandatory safeguarding training for all our staff, including our support staff (which might be translated to ensure full understanding). Finally, we have a whistle-blowing policy which makes it mandatory to report any concern regarding a staff member to our Designated Safeguarding Team.

All TSPS staff, including support staff, receive mandatory safeguarding training. Where necessary, training is translated to ensure full comprehension. Additionally, our whistleblowing policy mandates that any concerns regarding a staff member must be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Team immediately.

Our Designated Safeguarding Team

The TSPS Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mr. Roger Hancock, Principal, and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Ms. Stephy Abraham, Head of Inclusion. Our comprehensive Safeguarding Policy is available in the ‘School Policies’ section.

At TSPS, we are committed to fostering a culture of safety, vigilance, and accountability to protect and support every student in our care.
